Kidz Got Talent show wows care home residents to raise over £700

A talent show involving children from North East Lincolnshire was held recently to raise money for elderly care home residents living with dementia.

Kidz Got Talent took place at Grange Community Centre with 10 different acts singing, dancing or acting in front of residents from Cranwell Court, a purpose-built residential dementia care home on Cambridge Road in Grimsby.

The performances took place to raise money for Cranwell Court’s residents’ fund which is used to take residents on day trips, provide specialist care provision when needed and other activities that help to improve the quality of life for residents.

Chelsea Fishwick, 10, won the competition following her rendition of Lady Gaga’s ‘Make Me Feel This Way’ song. In second place was Ava Jenkin, 7, who provided an excellent gymnastic display. Third place went to Myles Bunyard, 8, who caught the judges’ attention with his comedy sketch.

Sharon Long, manager at Cranwell Court, said: “What a wonderful show that was enjoyed by all, especially our residents.

“Chelsea’s beautiful angelic voice took everyone’s breath away and reduced some in the audience to tears, Ava’s gymnastic skills were amazing and Myles had everyone in fits of laughter – he is definitely a comedian in the making.

“I wanted to say a huge thank you to all the families and children who took part, the residents had such a great day and talked about it for hours afterwards.

“The money raised will be used to provide more experiences for them that improve their quality of life and enable them to lead happier, healthier lives.”

The show raised £702 in total and many people who came along also donated raffle prizes and gifts that were given out on the day. As well as the performances there were many games taking place including Hook a Duck, Deal or no Deal and bingo for both adults and children.
