At HICA, we deeply appreciate the unique contributions that our volunteers make to the lives of the people living in our care homes and using our services. Volunteering at a HICA care home or service is flexible and rewarding, with roles tailored to suit your interests, availability, and the needs of the people we support.
Whether you have a special skill like music, crafts, or fitness, or simply want to spend time chatting with residents, your involvement can bring joy and purpose to someone’s day.
Here are just a few ways volunteers contribute to HICA:
Companionship– Spending quality time with residents, sharing stories, or simply lending a listening ear.
Activities Support– Helping with hobbies like knitting, painting, or gardening, or organising group sessions.
Event Assistance– Supporting celebrations and parties by preparing food and drinks or lending a hand with decorations.
Practical Help– Assisting with transport to appointments, running errands, or tending to small DIY and gardening tasks.
Entertaining– Sharing musical, comedic, or creative performances that bring joy to residents.
How to Become a Volunteer
If you’re interested in volunteering with HICA, the first step is to contact your local care home or service. You don’t need to have any prior connection to HICA – we welcome anyone who wants to contribute their time and skills. All volunteers will be required to undertake an Enhanced DBS check.
Simply call your nearest home and speak to the manager, or use the Contact Us form on this website. Our team will guide you through the application process and discuss how you can get involved. For certain roles, specific qualifications or certifications may be required, but we’ll support you every step of the way.
We look forward to welcoming you to the HICA community and making a difference together!
