Hull Homecare Duo Take the Plunge for SHINE and Raise Over £1,000
Two brave members of the Hull Homecare team have gone above and beyond – quite literally – by completing a daring tandem bungee jump in aid of the HICA SHINE Fund.
On Saturday 26th April 2025, Care Coordinator Sharon Foster and Care Supervisor Carole Leach faced their fears and successfully completed the adrenaline-fuelled challenge, despite one of them being terrified of heights. The event was a personal milestone and a huge triumph in the name of a great cause – and their efforts have already raised over £1,000, with donations still coming in.
The jump was not just a bold personal achievement but a meaningful act of kindness, with all proceeds going to the SHINE Fund, which enhances the lives of people supported by HICA through extra activities, experiences, and theprovision of fun activity equipment.
A representative from the SHINE Forum shared their appreciation:
“On behalf of our service users, we would like to say a heartfelt thank you to Carole and Sharon. Their courage and generosity embody what SHINE is all about — going the extra mile to bring joy, comfort, and new experiences to the people we support. Their actions will make a real difference.”
SHINE is a core part of HICA’s care philosophy. The SHINE Fund is powered entirely by the HICA Lottery and fundraising events like this one, helping to create positive moments and opportunities for individuals in HICA services.
Director of Operations, Heather Joy, also praised the duo:
“What Sharon and Carole have done is truly inspirational. Their bravery and commitment to the people we support reflects the values we hold dear at HICA. They are both fantastic role models, and we are incredibly proud of them.”
Their JustGiving page remains open for anyone who wishes to make a last-minute donation:
