Staff take up the 3 Peaks Challenge to raise funds for SHINE

We’re raising £1,500 to help improve the lives of the service users we provide services to.

A team of 8 staff members from The HICA Group will be taking part in the gruelling Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge in May to raise money for the company’s SHINE Fund.

The event, which takes place on Friday 18th May 2023, will see the team, take on the 24 mile route – including a total ascent of 5,200 ft – across the peaks of Pen-y-Ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough in the Yorkshire Dales National Park.

The HICA Group provide care and support to older people and people with a learning disability across the north of England and every penny of the money that’s raised for the SHINE Fund goes towards making a positive difference to the lives of the people they support. This includes providing specialist equipment, organising events and funding trips.

HICA CEO and one of the walkers Terry Peel said, “The team is looking forward to taking on this challenge and training for the day itself is well underway. Our SHINE Fund was set up to help embrace our ideology of truly making a difference to everyone we support. It has become integral to the lives of our resident and many of their favourite annual events are sponsored by it.”

He added, “The three peaks challenge is in a beautiful part of the country, and I’m very much looking forward to joining the team for a race to the top! I would like to thank all the walkers and, in advance, everybody who is kind enough to donate.”

The team consists of HICA staff members Terry Peel, Heather Joy, Tom Sharman, Mark Green, Mark Midgely, Sam Oxley, Mathew Bain and Cameron Innes. If you would like to support the cause please visit: https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/hica-3peaks
