Local Rugby legend Opens Albemarle Hub
Ex Hull KR and England rugby player Phil Lowe has officially opened the latest addition to Albemarle care home - its new bar area The Hub. Paid for by fundraising and donations the Hub came about after discussion with the residents as to what they would like to do with that part of the home. All the resident agreed that they would like a pub, somewhere they could socialise, play pool and darts and enjoy a refreshing beverage. It took a while to raise the funds and convert the room but Everyone agrees that the outcome was worth the wait.
The opening was timed to coincide with Burns Night and the manager ensured that bagpiper Dale MacLean was there to entertain the crowd.
Phil Lowe, who runs the nearby Shakespeare pub gave a short speech and cut the ribbon officially opening the Hub.
Albemarle manager Cindy Turner said, "It's been a fantastic day and we are all delighted to see so many people come to the opening. I believeThe Hub is an important addition to Albemarle and that it will truly make a difference to the lives of the residents. The residents have decided that Friday night will be Pub Night. I would like to thank Phil for doing a great job of officially opening The Hub and also Dale for providing such wonderful entertainment."
