Just a short drive from the attractions of the coast, Buckshaw Retirement Village offers a wealth of nearby parks and open-air amenities to explore. The 650-acre Cuerden Valley Park, a short walk north of the development, includes a wonderful mixture of woodlands, grassland, lakes and formal gardens abounding in wildlife

Worden Arts & Crafts Centre, set in the delightful Worden Park in Leyland, incorporates a theatre presenting a varied programme of live shows. The South Ribble Museum, housed in a 16th century grammar school, offers a vivid picture of the area's past from Roman times.

The development also has an excellent selection of golf courses nearby. Leyland Golf Club, to the north, offers a distinctive parkland course, while to the east, the Shaw Hill Hotel Golf and Country Club incorporates includes a championship course.

Local shopping

There are good local shopping centres in Chorley and Leyland, with a choice of supermarkets and high-street stores as well as specialist and independent traders. The Botany Bay complex close to junction 8 of the M61 and less than two miles from the development, includes five floors of shopping, restaurants and a garden centre.

Transport links

Buckshaw Retirement Village lies between the M6 and the M61, making it exceptionally convenient for travel throughout the North West and a good base for commuting to Manchester or Liverpool. The train station at Euxton, less than a mile-and-a-half from the development, operates direct services to Preston and Liverpool. Blackpool Airport is just 17 miles away, and Fleetwood Ferry terminal is less than half an hour's drive from Buckshaw Village.

Health facilities

There is a large medical centre on site at Buckshaw Retirement Village, staffed by five GPs and offering a range of specialist clinics. There are also dental practices at Euxton and Whittle-le-Woods. All are within around a mile of the development. Buckshaw Village itself has a branch pharmacist, just across the road.
