Penni Brown's Retirement Message
As you may have heard I will be retiring from the HICA Group on the 29th March 2019, having worked for the group for 26 years, and for the last five years as its CEO.
The Group has been part of the social care landscape in this area for such a long time it is easy to forget that a number of factors including austerity policies, new legislation, underfunding and heavy regulation have affected us in the same way as the rest of the sector and the past five years have been difficult but ultimately very rewarding for both myself and the organization as a whole.
We have worked extremely hard to improve quality within all of our services and to achieve a stable commercial position both of which we have succeeded in doing. All but one of our services is rated Good or Outstanding and with the recent sale of four of our homes we are now virtually debt free. We recognize we cannot be complacent, it is still a fragile time for the sector, but we are in a good position to capitalize on our current position and to take the organization forward in partnership with the rest of the sector, our funders, our investors and suppliers and our staff teams, family members and our service users.
So now seems like a good time for me to step aside and let someone younger and with more energy than me take the reins! From the 1st April 2109 our current Managing Director Terry Peel, will be appointed CEO of the HICA Group. Terry has been with the Group for four years and has played an integral part in hitting quality and financial targets during that time. Reporting to our Board, Terry is supported by two Regional Directors and a Finance Director at Executive and strategic Level and a team of Senior Managers responsible for the day to day delivery of the service on the ground floor.
Terry can be contacted through his PA, Julia Woodcock on 01482 581000 at Anchor Court our Head office in Hull.
It has been a privilege to work with such great people delivering services to some truly wonderful people and I look forward to seeing what the HICA Group can achieve next.
Thank you to those of you were kind enough to take the time to read my limited attempts at blogging - I wish you all health and happiness in everything you do in the future
