25 for 25

Penni2a.jpgIn my previous blog I talked about working for the HICA Group for the past 25 years starting out as the manager of one of our services, and I have been Hica’s Chief Executive for the past four years. Well the time has come for me to make another change in my life’s direction and in March I start the yearlong transition to retirement as I gradually hand over the reins to Terry Peel who has just been made our managing Director in readiness for the job ahead.  It will be a bittersweet moment when I do retire in March 2019.  I have worked in social care for 45 years, 25 of those at HICA and I am passionate about this fabulously quirky organisation and the wonderful people we support and who work in our services and it will be a heartfelt wrench when I do finally put my feet up and have a rest.

I have always believed that that my job, and everyone's at Hica, is to make a positive difference to the lives of the people we support and one of the ways we do this is through our Shine Fundraising initiative which exists simply to benefit the people who use our services. I  have been thinking about ways in which I can celebrate my 25 years with HICA and have decided to tray and raise some money for the Shine Fund so we can invest in some specialist activity equipment that will enhance the lives of our service users. As Hica is 25 years old, and I have spent 25 years of my working life with Hica I thought I would walk 25 miles in one day and try and raise (at least) £2500 for the SHINE fund. I will be walking those 25 miles on the 29th March visiting 8 of our care homes along the way. It would be great if you could help me raise as much money as possible. many thanks.

Donations can be given at any Hica location or through my Just Giving page which can be reached at: https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/25for25
