Last league game of the season
Proudly sponsored by the
HICA Group, the support from our sponsor this season has been brilliant, from everyone involved at the u12s thank you!
After two 3-2 losses in a row we needed a response from the lads we know we are a lot better than we have been recently! Trainings been brilliant this week with lots of positives and ideas to take into todays game. We let the boys give there own team talk and instructions just before the game started and it was fantastic to listen too. Every word was spot on!
1st Half
We started the same as the last few weeks… slow! We gave Robin too many chances, Jacob pulled off a fantastic double save and then denied Robin time and time again. Eventually Robin took one of there chances to take the lead after we gave them to much space. We didn’t play our football well at first but we slowly started to grow into the game and created chances of our own. George, Izzy and Jacob all coming close but we found ourselves 1-0 down at the break.
2nd half we started with purpose the introduction of Alexander of the bench means one thing…. after some brilliant build up by our attacking trio the ball broke to Alexander at the edge of the box 3 touches later and his delightful lob landed into the back of the net
1-1… The lads were on it after this, winning the majority of balls and controlling midfield we kept attacking the Robin goal. At our corner deep into the 2nd half Kenzie played the ball into the area before Jenson scrambled the ball home to put Orchard 2-1 up. We spent a lot of time at training this week working on corners so this was well deserved for the boys! The boys knew we had to make sure we stayed composed and finish the game on top. Another through ball from our midfield left there keeper no choice but to come running out his area but a bad touch meant hes handled it. Free kick Orchard, Great strike by Kenzie with a nice deflection through the legs of the Robin defender on the line 3-1 Orchard. We held on really well and created another few chances before the final whistle,
Great team performance from the boys today, had to dig deep and show heart and determination against a very physical Robin side. Great win to finish the season
Well done to Josh for Parents Player of the Match, great running in behind when playing upfront, held the ball up well and when asked to play cdm he did so with class, sweeping up moves and playing balls forward.
Coaches Man of the Match, Kenzie. Took an unreal amount of challenges and got up every time and played on, great delivery from set pieces and all round really good game in centre mid winning the ball and creating chances.
Goalscorers – Alexander, Jenson, Kenzie
Well done lads for a great effort this season!
