Beyond the home: how residents embrace the community

Our residents absolutely love the time they spend out and about in the local community! Kirkgate House residents delight in leisurely walks through the local town, strolling by the seafront, enjoying a serving of chips, and visiting the local shops. Residents from Elm Tree Court love their weekly gatherings at ‘the sunshine club’ in the welcoming Ravenser pub. It’s all smiles, pints, and spirited games of dominos! Wilton Lodge residents delight in joining in with the local ‘knit and natter’ sessions at the church, where they get creative. And over at Isaac Robinson Court, our residents eagerly join their local church community group, where they share delicious food and make new friends.

Community involvement plays a vital role in enhancing the well-being and quality of life for care home residents. It fosters a sense of belonging and connection, reducing feelings of isolation and loneliness. Engaging with the community provides residents with opportunities for social interaction and the chance to form meaningful relationships with fellow residents and members of the community. Participation in local events, activities, and volunteer opportunities helps residents maintain a sense of purpose and relevance, boosting self-esteem and mental health. Moreover, it allows them to share their life experiences, skills, and wisdom with others, thereby enriching the wider community. Ultimately, community involvement promotes a holistic approach to care, ensuring that residents continue to lead fulfilling lives and remain integrated within society, regardless of their living situation.
