HICA Group Announce Expansion With Management Of New Care Home

Hull-based, not for profit care company The HICA Group have announced a new expansion, with the takeover of Management at The Wolds Care Centre on North Home Road in Louth. The move comes after a deal was made with the Bluebrick Care who built the home in 2012 and have been operating it since then.

The home, which is rated as ‘good’ by the Care Quality Commission (CQC), will add a further 66 beds to the Group’s portfolio, which includes 16 other care homes, 11 for older people and 5 for people with a learning disability. These sit alongside their 4 domiciliary care branches, supporting over 10,000 hours of care and support in the community each week and their two purpose-built retirement villages.

Founded in 1992, The HICA Group has been a dominant force providing care and support services primarily in the Humberside area. The company continues their belief that all people deserve the best quality of life, which sits at the heart of the every-day ethos in all of our services across the HICA Family.

Terry Peel, Chief Executive Officer of The HICA Group said: “We are extremely pleased to have added The Wolds Care Centre to the HICA Family. I would like to extend a warm welcome to the residents, staff, family members and we look forward to working alongside them. We have been working closely with the Bluebrick Care for several weeks to ensure we achieve a smooth transfer of services.

“We are impressed with the Bluebrick Care and their local management and staff team. They have incredibly high standards and are clearly passionate about the care of residents. We will work closely with all staff, residents and loved ones to continue the excellent work that’s already been done.”

Mike Bullas, founder of Bluebrick Group commented, “We have been very proud of the quality of care and environment provided at The Wolds Care Centre since we built and opened the home in 2012. Whilst we are sorry to see it leave the group, we still retain ownership of the freehold, and we are sure that Terry and his team at HICA will continue to deliver a first class service to the families of Louth and the surrounding area for many years to come.”

With en-suite accommodation for up to 66 people and an on-site café and cinema, The Wolds Care Centre provides individualised, service user-led care and support for older vulnerable adults (with a Qualified Nurse on-site 24 hours) including those living with dementia in a relaxing and stimulating, homely and contemporary environment.

The deal was arranged by specialist care sector advisers Healthcare Property Consultants Ltd. With thanks to Daniel Corker of Windles Solicitors Limited who acted for The HICA Group and Matt Ainsworth of Keebles LLP who acted for Bluebrick Care Group
