HICA Launches 100 Club For Centenarian Residents

Eighteen residents with a combined age of 1,814 are to become the founder members of a new club – the HICA 100 Club for people who are cared for by HICA and are aged 100 or over from 2010.

The group of 18 is made up of nine HICA care home residents in Hull with a combined age of 909 and nine residents who still live in their own homes in the region and are regularly visited by staff from HICA’s Homecare Division.

To mark the launch of the new club, HICA will be bringing out the bunting and balloons for a party on March 19 at The Rowans care home on West Ella Road, Kirk Ella.

Relatives, HICA board members and managers will join some of the 100 Club members for a Victorian afternoon tea and ‘land girls’ type entertainment. Each 100 Club member will be presented with a commemorative engraved gift. They will also receive a HICA 100 medal.

The oldest HICA 100 Club member is 107-year-old Elizabeth Riley, from the Albemarle care home in Hedon.

HICA Group Chief Executive Andrew Stow said: “We are delighted that so many of our residents have reached such an age. It’s a tremendous achievement and one we are recognising by launching the HICA 100 Club.”

“We are also planning to acknowledge their long life by developing a dedicated area on our website to record some of the many interesting aspects of their lives,” he added.
