Council Appoints HICA Group As Strategic Partners
The HICA Group has been appointed a strategic partner by Lincolnshire County Council as part of the Council’s plans to develop retirement villages and other extra care facilities for older people in the county.
The HICA Group has been appointed a strategic partner by Lincolnshire County Council as part of the Council’s plans to develop retirement villages and other extra care facilities for older people in the county.
Hull-based HICA has already developed the Holderness Grange Retirement Village at Hedon in East Yorkshire, and also the Buckshaw Retirement Village at Chorley in Lancashire as part of the Oakbridge Retirement Villages joint venture.
HICA Chief Executive Andrew Stow said: “We are very pleased to have been selected by Lincolnshire County Council as a principal provider and we will be looking to be part of the plan to provide a number of retirement villages across the county in the coming years.”
“The process could take several years to come to fruition because we have to find a site and go through the various planning and consultation processes but we are keen to develop our first village in Lincolnshire as soon as we can,” he added.
Before appointing HICA as strategic partners, Lincolnshire County Council visited the Holderness Grange and Buckshaw retirement villages.
With the older population of Lincolnshire expected to increase significantly over the coming years, the Council is developing plans to meet the increased demand for housing options for older people. This will be provided by purpose built care villages or flats that offer care and support for older people.
HICA is one of eight strategic partners appointed by the Council. The group consists of housing associations and private developers who will work with the Council to develop services across the county.
Carolyn Kus, Lincolnshire County Council Assistant Director for Adult Social Care, said: “We look forward to working with these organisations and learning from their experience of developing extra care in other parts of the country. The aim is for this initiative to increase the housing choice available to older people and enable us to attract additional funding into the county.”
